Pura Taman Ayun or Mengwi Water Temple,  is 2 km west of Mengwi
on the road to Abiansemal, near Ubud

Daily open from 8AM-6PM

This very pleasing temple was built in 1634 by the King of Mengwi as his family temple

Accessible via the main gate (kori agung)

There are several meru-towers represent the mountains,
the place of the gods

The highest Meru has eleven floors

In the "arena" (at the box office right) images were shown of cockfighting

The terraced courtyards of the temple are set in very well maintained grounds,
surrounded by man-made waterways and entered over a bridge

The rice fields of Jatiluwih would be the most beautiful of Indonesia

We were very impressed by the splendor of the rice fields

You have to buy a ticket to visit the rice fields

Park your car at the restaurant and take a walk through the
rice fields because it's well worth it

Jatiluwih village in Penebel District, north of Tabanan, has paddy fields
following the contours of terraced land against the background
of spellbinding Mount Batukaru and Mount Agung

They use traditional Balinese irrigation known as subak, Bali's community-based
water control management system

Jatiluwih lies at an altitude of 700 meters

The cool atmosphere and original beautiful Jatiluwih is better than the most well known Tegallalang rice fields which has plenty of cafes and souvenir shops

Jatiluwih has gain acknowledgement from UNESCO as part of the world's cultural heritage
